The Instituto Nacional de Artes do Circo is the first structure for circus training in northern Portugal, which aims to encourage the training of young contemporary circus artists with a high technical and artistic level. In addition to risk, poetry and humor, it is technical excellence and virtuosity that support the various forms of current circus. Artists, yesterday and today, are always required to train daily and intensively.
INAC's first mission is to train artists capable of a multidisciplinary approach that ensures the emergence and affirmation of new aesthetics. The various circus specific disciplines juggling, clown, balancing, aerials and acrobatics, and their interrelationship with other artistic forms, namely theater and dance constitute the pedagogical foundation of the training proposal.
INAC also intends to fill a deep gap in terms of training in Portugal, in the conviction that in the future, good artists will allow the creation of shows of great technical and artistic quality. INAC's project enshrines the creation of a circus training nucleus, which in the development of its mission values the global and unique character of this artistic area.
